  1. Can't go wrong with Flechero's advice. I have a MBR844C with a 50MG mounted and it feels like air. I fish t-rig with this setup and can cast a mile if needed. If you are a Dawai kind of guy, try the new Steez. It would probably be the same feel.
  2. Jighead, Wackyrig, C-rig .. only 1 acvice .. Don't leave home without a few packs
  3. Bait Monkey demands minimum 2 of each
  4. Fish with my best friend 95% of time. He's a lefty and i'm a rightie, we have the double front buzzbait and spinnerbait attack patented. Hope here in future to fish with a few guys on here.
  5. Drop shotting just is not my thing. But Crig .. bread and butter for me along with jig head worms. Glen ... Have never tried the 3-way rigs but have had luck with a 1 oz weight and a floating or shallow (0-2') crankbait tied to a 2-3' leader. Read about it on one of the articles on here last year and decided to try it.
  6. Was thinking the topwater route fist, maybe walking a Sammy or a Pop-R. after that, I would probably pitch a jig or sweet beaver in using enough weight to punch to the bottom.
  7. Some great stories here. I have lived within 30 mins from an impoundment all my life and have boated and jet skied for many years. The "know it all - weekend warrier - rookie boat owners" seem to irritate me most. Triton Mike and a few others that fish Alatoona can probably grin when i talk about the Block House ramp. It's a 3 lane ramp and real steep. I saw a guy block all 3 lanes with his trailer and SUV one day. 4 people offered to back it in and he just wanted to get an attitude. And this was on a Sunday afternoon in July. Like was said .. practice in your driveway before attempting the ramps.
  8. I personally like the Triton TR-20 with a 225 Yamaha. Great ride and stability with awesome speed. Wife has told me to go ahead and buy but waiting 1 more year where there will be no payments. Years ago had a Glasstron that i thought was the best looking boat sitting in the water I have ever seen.
  9. Pull my partners TR-20 with a 2005 Z71 like a dream. But when we hook his GMC 2500 Duramax to the TR-20 - like they said, what boat.
  10. Now i know what to try on Alatoona. Thanks Mike. I have stayed with the green pumpkin, watermelon, and junebug colors for all my plastics and they seem to produce good.
  11. As of right now, boatless. Sold mine about 4 yrs ago. I am looking at a Triton TR20 with either a Yamaha or Mercury 225. My partner has a TR20 and that is a sweet boat. Found several used ones at very reasonable prices. Bad part is I'm going to have to build a new garage to keep the boat in anf that is an extra $12000.
  12. The greatest fisherman I ever knew - my father. He taught me the secrets of creek fishing for bream; crappie fishing on Lake Weiss during it's glory days (70's 7 80's); running trotlines and jugs for big cats on the Coosa river; bass fishing it seems like ever lake from N Ga to Fla. Never forget the day we came back to our lake house from a morning of getting skunked and my mother was standing beside the dock and ask my father to get a fish of the hook for her. 8 lb+ bass with a Zebco 33 on a red wiggler. His face was priceless. Best fishing partner I ever had. Wish I could just sit on the lake one more time with him.
  13. Buying? Man, nothing like a night on the creek, cheap pole with a chunk of chicken liver on the end. Just raise it up and drop the crawfish into the bucket. The case of beer helps alot between the catches.
  14. As an AOl user for over 10 yrs now, Glenn is right that they are a pain in the *** about mass mailings. I have been termed in the past for this and had my account suspended numerous times. I still have AOL but in the process of changing over to a DSL. One thing you might can do is set up a yahoo email acount just for mail from this site. that might help you to get your mail It took me about 2-3 weeks to get my password for this site, after I had been reading the articles for about 6 mths. But that wasn't Glenn's fault. Just AOL's picky rules.
  15. Very well put. The day I quit having fun bass fishing and its starts to feel like a job is the day I sell all my equipment, find me a cane pole and tube of crickets and just sit on a creek bank somewhere and enjoy the solitude.
  16. Have any of you made any interesting 2006 Resolutions relating to fishing? I have made two: 1) Concentrate more on that trophy bass 2) Invent a secure cage for the bait monkey.
  17. Natures hardwood brushpiles ,, the banks of Lake Weiss and the Coosa River Channel. Not hurting for blowdowns a bit. We have fished one specific tree for 5 years now that blew down into the water. the trunk is about 6' across. Many nice fish ouyt of the top of that one.
  18. Schooled by Denny Brauer but it's not on any more i don't think. Bassmaster University was good.
  19. We have 2 loads to go to Weiss Lake. My partner has a lake house with a dock and we have loaded it up for the last 5 years. The water is down to just a stream in their cove right now so we get to place them how we want. Has made some GREAT crappie fishing and he caught a 7# bass last year casting from his walk.
  20. Had the best luck in the rain with spinnerbaits (single blade) and rattletraps.
  21. Ms Santa put 2 Lucky Craft crankbaits, 3 pks of GY Senkos, 2 spools Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft (6 & 12), and 2 Terminator spinnerbaits in my stocking. Plus she orders gloves and another Symetre from BPS and got me more points . A keeper.
  22. Tried Zoom trick worms on the c-rig last year and was suprised at the results. Also Senkos did very well. I know this sounds wierd, but my partner tied a Stone Jig on a C-rig with a 4' leader and a zoom craw trailer that he pinched off some and burnt my rear one day. but i tried it and did not get the first hit.
  23. I knid of consider Junebug in the "Blue" category. That was the hot color for me two years ago and it will worl in any water color. About red, I like soft plastics with red flakes. I agree on both points. Junebug seems blue to me. And I my favorite Trick Worm color is Green Pumkin with red flakes. Have to agree with Raul. Most of my crasnks are of chrome, blue, black, and chartruese. Plastic have to go to green pumpkin with or without red flakes and watermelon. Mostly orange and brown for jigs.
  24. My dad was the ultimate fisherman. No matter what he was fishing for he caught fish. Some of my best memories are sitting on a creek bank (yea I'm from the South) with a cane pole or bank fishing. He taught me the love of the sport and now I am passing it on. For those of you that have a 13 yr old son, you know how trying it can be to TELL them anything. He has got the bream, crappie, and catfish down pretty good so it was time for higher education. Bought an old baitcaster at a pawn shop and put a chunck of lead on it for practice. Well when out in boat he wanted to throw as far as the old man and you know what happended, major bird nest. Just like RW, mounted a Zebco 33 on a 6' BPS Extreme with a Strike King buzzbait. No picking out bird nest, no major dings in cowl, and you should have seen his face when that 3 # bass busted the buzzbait. Kid him still have the stains on the deck where hw was standing. Next test - 9 yr old daughter wants to catch a bass.
  25. I am looking at a boat and want opinions. It is a 2002 Triton TR 20, 20' 0'' , Mercury 225HP EFI Motor, Jackplate, Stainless Prop., Hotfoot, Hydrolic steering, Steering wheel trim control, (2) LCR Graphs, 24 Volt trolling motor, Single axle trailer; Immaculate boat! $21,995.00. Is this a good deal? http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/3/0/80917630.htm
