Reel Repair

Featured Replies

I have a question for the reel techs here. I have a Shimano citica200e and I'm having an issue with the anti reverse sleave. When I go and put the side cover back on I can't turn the handle and now the sleeve is stuck inside the roller bearing. Has anyone experienced this problem before and if so how do I fix it?

Send it to Delaware Valley Tackle. They're a site sponsor, do great work, and are priced right.

Have it supertuned while it's there too.

Best of luck!

Usually the binding comes from the roller clutch not seated completely into the side plate. The sleeve being seized inside the roller is something else.

I completely agree with DogBone, send it to Delaware Tackle. They fixed up 4 Curados for me at a very reasonable price. I am very happy with their work or service.

Did you take the anti-reverse bearing out of the side plate when you were servicing your reel?

Sounds like you got it in there backwards?

has anyone ever used a roller clutch bearing from a shimano curado 200e5 and put it on a citica 200e?

They should be the same part number, across each of the gear ratios.  You can easily check the schematics for this by downloading them from the Shimano website.

Both the bearings are the same size. The Curado has a different part number as it is a better quality Anti Rust Bearing (ARB).Placing one in a Citica would be an upgrade.

The roller clutch bearing has no effect on IPT.

Yes I did that to my citica E and also changed the spool bearings with orange seals and new drag washers. It's now better than a curado in my opinion.

Did you replace the plastic pins for brass pins on the spool hub, replace the SiC line guide with a Ti one, swap out the drag star to a metal one, replace the smaller septon grips for larger ones and add a bearing under the drive shaft.  Because those were some of the things that also made the Curado E an upgrade over the Citica E.

The Curado also come in a couple of different gear ratios in the E model whereas the Citica was only available in one.

No I didn't . I also said "in my opinion"

Nothing wrong with having an opinion and stating it.  If you were being honest, would you have known of all the other differences between the two reels and still had the same opinion?

Really? Why are you making a big deal out of this? I'm not a reel expert like you must be . I was simple answering a question.

No big deal at all to me.
