Thin Wire Hooks For Small Plastic Worms ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Do small pond fishing with plastic worms generally.

Small size stuff; mainly 1/0 and 2/0 size Offset hooks.

Trying to find some hooks made with very, very thin wire.

The hooks I now have, and see in the stores, are made with wire heavy enough to land a Tarpon, even in these smaller sizes.

What brand and "series" should I be looking at, please to find hooks of this size of really thin diameter wire ?

Thanks,

Bob

Try the Owner Twistlock Light hook--they are a small diameter wire hook for small profile baits--I use them and would recommend them for any small worm fishing

Owner #5133 down shot hook size 1/0 is a very stronger light wire hook that I use for both drop shot and finesse T or C rigs. Owner  #5100 straight shank or Lght wire J hooks 2/0 are also a good choice.

I almost always use thin wire EWG hooks by Gama.  Unless I'm flipping or pitching baits when I use thicker super line hooks.  The thin wire gives you better sticking ability and less misses.

I use the thin wire gammy hooks, but ive used vmc, owner, mustad, and daichi with success. Usually ewg unless it's a thin finesse worm or similar and then I use the regular round bend offset worm hook. I use sizes from #2-3/0 depending on the bait

I use Gama straight shank light wire hooks with lighter plastics.

+2 on the Rebarb's.

VMC Offset; with a line eye that is sealed closed with smooth epoxy resin, which prevents lines from slipping through and also keeps your line from getting damaged unnecessarily & the hook point offset by 3-degrees to greatly increase the hooking rate. Designed for all light to medium weight lines!

Most 1/0 worm hooks are going to be around .040 I think.  That's pretty light in wire diameter.  I just measured some Gamakatsu and Owner 1/0 and 2/0 offsets and EWG and they are all about .040

The Roboworm Rebarb's are are the cat's meow.
