Any way to keep the screw from tearing out of my hollow bodied swimbaits?

Featured Replies

I use Strike King Shadelicious 4.5" and have had an issue with the screw tearing out the nose after one or two fish. I prefer Gamakatsu weighed screw locks. I tried the Owner Beast hooks (all 4/0 1/8oz), but the action isn't the same. Any tips?

Buy the owner CPS and put them on the hooks you like. Medium size should be right.

At least your Shadilicious are getting bit.  I couldn't by a bite on them.  What Jeff said above is what you want to do.  Those CPS have a 1001 uses, if you're creative.

The cps springs are what I use also. If it's in open water I just use an insert head and slit the belly a little. If it needs to be weedless you can always cut a small slit in the belly and push a scrap piece of plastic worm into the head section. When you screw the bait on the hook just keep the worm piece pushed into the nose and screw the hook into it. It will usually make them last at least a couple more fish depending on the brand

Same with me, I purchased about 10 packs last year, don't think I caught a single fish on them. I love the Keitech fat, the CPS is the cat's meow.

Off topic, but @onetime, here's an alternative rigging for the Keitech that is durable, and hooks up well in open water.

Which head is that, looks good? I've been using the Dirty Jigs swimbait head, with good luck. Still trying to find a good weighted swimbait hook. Most I see don't seem to have a large enough gap.

That is a J-Will 1/8 oz. Pretty much the best in class for open hook swimbait heads.

I'll check it out, I appreciate your knowledge!

Ive caught tons of fish on the shadilicious. One of my go tos. I rig it on reaction strike plasma point hooks
