Has anybody ever used an ugly stik elite, I have an gx2 and I love it but It's too heavy for light baits. Im getting a 7 ft ML rod for 8 lb test and small finesse lures anybody ever used this rod. Be honest and keep in mind I'm not able to spend a ton of money on rods in my current financial situation. So don't compare it to a st croix 

Why don't you get a 7 ml rod that is specifically designed for bass fishing like an abu vengeance or a hellbe**.  ugly stick is strong but a bit of a noodle for setting that hook.

Is the medium light really that noodly  I don't want a buggy whip rod but I want something light and vengeance and the other rod don't have the size style or length I want, I checked

Here is my suggestion. Go put a Berkley Lightning Shock rod in the 7 foot medium light in your hand. Sometimes you can find one at Walmart, but if not go online.  The rod costs $50 from Tackle Warehouse, but often can be found cheaper. I have two of the Med mod 6'6" casting and my wife owns 1 6'6" spinning. We use them for treble hook baits. We both have used them to catch bass and stripers and unintentionally big blue catfish.

Another good suggestion for that exact purpose that i own and like is from Dicks Sporting Goods. Go online and look at a Quantum Escalade 6'6 medium power. It is basically a fast action rod. It specs for 6-12 pound line and lures weighing 1/8 to 1/4. That is a misprint in my experience. I regularly throw baits up to 1/2 ounce. It is a great finesse rod. It sells for $100, but is on sale for $50 

Match either rod with a Pflueger President 6930 or 6935 for $60.   I found a deal on an Okuma RTX30 for $75.That reel is a very light reel with a higher gear ratio.  Either of these reels will give you a great combo.

spinning or casting ? the daiwa aird x comes in a 7ft ml.

I personally like the Ugly Stik Lite/Elite rods. They are plenty sensitive for me and especially with your ML rod, you should be able feel the slightest nibble. I don't think that you will be disappointed.

Yes these Berkley Lightning Shock rods are really good rods. I have a couple, and they're great

Is that $100 budget for the rod only or the rod and reel? If you can go around $100 for the rod then I would add a Dobyns Fury FR703SF. Dobyns Fury rods fish more like a $200 rod instead of a rod that costs $110.

If not either of my first options will cover your needs.   Speaking of the needs that this rod fills consider this. With this rod you can easily throw an unweighted Senco, lightly weighted texas rigged worms,creature baits, shakey heads, even drop shots. If you have not thrown a Z Man TRD Ned rig introduce yourself to that little 2.5 inch bait and some 1/10 ounce mushroom head jigs called Shroomz.  That little do nothing bait makes no sense but I caught numerous 6 and 7 pound smallies and largies this spring.

I would look at a regular Lightning rod, the shock models are very moderate which is great for braid but I'm guessing you are going to use mono. Trying to set the hook with the shock series with mono isn't going to be great, may as well stick with the ugly stick. If you could swing $80 or wait for black Friday sales the Abu Garcia Vendetta 6'9" ML-F would be great for the application. I think a 6'9" is a little more versatile since you got enough length for good casting distance but it is still short enough to make it easier for fishing close quarters, but that is just my preference.

I use a 6'6 Lightning Shock medium casting for all my cranking and treble hook needs.  I run it with 10lb big game mono.

I use all diff kinds of uglystiks even the elites ..light baits are best with light rods IMO  a lightning rod shock would be more usable for light baits

ugly sticks are heavy and have a very slow action.  With the black friday sales coming you may be able to get into a much better rod.  I like fenwick as a budget rod and you might be able to grab an elite in your budget during black friday.
