Featured Replies

Any recognize this bait? It's a hellgrammite/centipede look alike but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Idk .

But It looks like shaky head city to me.

Lunker City (from Slug-Go fame) makes a nice one they call the HellGie.

River Rock makes great soft plastics. I use several including the helgripede, but my favorite are their laminate tubes.

Haven't tried the Lunker City helgie yet but looks good.

Case makes a good hellgie that I've had a lot of success with

Arkie makes a crawlin fry that smallies love. Lot's of good choices out there; I was just looking to see if anyone recognized the one in the pic at the top of this thread as I can't seem to find that particular pour.

Check out Lunker City, they have a bait that you can tear down, but I would think that is an old Exude or mister twister Hellgie as they used to have a bunch of designs over the years.

That tail reminds me of the old culprit Woolly buggers.

These were a favorite of mine early in my fishing career. I recently rediscovered them and plan on introducing them to some smallmouththis summer.

Recently bought one of the rigged ones. It's a great looking bait and I've already caught some fish with it. Can't wait for summer when the bugs get out, it should really shine then.

Smallies love them. If you want to part with what you have, send me a PM. Thanks for ID'ing them for me!

Hey hamma, you make those or can I get some?

While Hamma's hellgrammite immatation looks great it's the Darner nymph of the dragon fly that pond and lake bass consider candy.

Nice to hear. So what color did you buy and mind showing your catch with the Mayflies.

I tied that up, I got the idea from a fly tying video, the pincers are actually a rubber o-ring, the body is black estaz/grey dubbing mix, and the tail is marabou, and 4 strands of rubber skirt material. All on a 1/8 oz jig which I powdercoated the head black.

I tied this as the NH lakes region has a huge amount of black hellgramites, and thought the smallies would hit it, if they do, I will be tying up more. From what I understand hellgramites live a few years before they molt into their fly, so a small bite sized morsel may just entice finicky smallies. Testing to take place this season.

I have a selection of colors in both the Case Helgy and most recently the Mister Twister Helgies. The later I'm really impressed with, for both drop shotting smallmouths and put on a jig head for big crappie.

I bought the black. Wasn't sure what color to go with but I feel like you can almost never go wrong with black. I don't have any pictures of any fish I've caught on it yet, maybe a video of one but I haven't caught any big enough to warrant a picture yet.
