I don't know what rod to get

Featured Replies

I need a rod for fishing light jigs from 1/4oz then up to 3/4oz or to so oz I want it to be 7'6 or close to it and that it is stiff but it has got to be $120 or lower

I just picked up a veritas 2.0 for the same purpose. And although I haven't fished it yet. It feels pretty good in the yard. Seems to meet all your criteria except its only 7'. Don't know if they make it in longer models or not

Welcome aboard!

Sounds like you need something like a M to MH

You'll want to check rod ratings to see what one
can throw. I'd suggest Bass Pro's Carbonlite series.

My MH can go 3/8 to 1oz, while my M can go 1/8-1/2.

Other brands/lengths may vary. But the Carbonlite
is right in your range and get a lot of great reviews.

Abu Garcia vendetta 7'3" mhf fits the bill, and only $80. They fill pretty good in the hand as well.

Take a good look at a Dobyns Fury FR 734C  It is 7'3 HVY rated for 1/4 to1 ounce. Most Dobyns feel about a half step lighter than they call for. They are light and well balanced and built with good components. The rod is an extremely versatile stick. They sell for $110. Check their website and you can order one from Tackle Warehouse.

Yup, St Croix Mojo pitchin' rod. Should go on sale before Spring. Also try Academy's H2O express line of rods. Some of the Ethos rods are on clearance for $60 and less.
