Strike King Sexy Shad Kit

Featured Replies

This kit comes with many types of baits. Only sold at bps. Is it worth it?

Sexy Shad and Chartreuse Sexy Shad are great colors but I'd be wary about this bit -

  • 1 Chartreuse Sexy Shad and 1 Sexy Shad Pro Model crankbait in each of these sizes: Series 1, Series 3, Series 4, Series 5 and Series 6

Are you going to be doing a lot of crankbait fishing where you're going to need all of those depths?  If you buy it I'm going to guess a good portion of those crankbaits will go unused for a long time.

*Edit - Disclaimer: I'm a shore guy and use mostly 1.0-2.5 size squarebills for cranking, so a lot of those deeper divers wouldn't be a preferred option for me.

I bought one off a member on here for around $40. It was worth it, if you use that color a lot it should be worth it but I don't know what it retails at.

I tend to prefer sunfish and craw patterns over sexy shad, but it looks like a good deal provided you'll actually use most of the stuff in it. I got the KVD squarebill kit from BPS which i think was a decent buy (and on sale right now too, I see). You also get a reusable storage box, which I think for the sexy shad kit is comparable to a plano 3700 size.

I would get a lot of use from this kit and fish them from 1 to 17 foot deep .

^^^ This right here is the ticket.  I throw a Sexy Shad pattern maybe 5% of the time.  Usually pre-spawn, shad spawn, and in the fall.  Bluegill is always tied on in different types of cranks and styles.
