Best Flip and Pitch rod opinions?

Featured Replies

Looking for above average flip and pitch rod! Looking at a few Doybns and G loomis. My concern with Doybns is the weight. If I pay that kind of money I want a super light stick. I've never seen a Loomis FPR so Idl there. Thoughts and opinions appreciated!

Go pick up a Dobyns, install your favorite reel on it. You will immediately forget about weight and be amazed that it balances perfectly. A combo properly balanced fishes all day without causing fatigue. Most really light rods are too tip heavy.  It makes no difference if you are s[peaking about the Fury series, Sierra series or either of the Champion series.  If it falls in your budget look at the Champion XP DC 736C in either a full cork handle or split grip. If that is too expensive then  choose between a Sierra 735C, Fury FR 735C and 765 Flip.  I have a friend that recently purchased the 765 Flip. Amazing rod for the price.

Have you checked out the mb XXX perfect pitch.  Might be worth a look.

I have a fewhite that I like. I have a dobyns hp 746dx, dobyns ce 765 flip, megabass orochi pitch perfect (JDM version), and for the heavy stuff a megabass black jungle Super Red Demon. All are great with different purposes for me.

I run a Phenix Classic Super Flipper and I really like it. It's kind of a wonky design, but it works great.

I just purchased a 7'6" Heavy Extra Fast Carbonlite  rod from BassPro and love it. Paired with the brand new Carbonlite 2.0 reel. Its extremely light, Pitches very smooth, great backbone and very sensitive.

Not worried about the price. But Doybns offer a great discount for veterns. I own 734c and 735c Champ Series. I love the 734 but the 735 that I use for buzz frogs where's me out!

Any experience with the DX795 Flip?

I sent you a pm.  Please check it out.    I am sorry I have never touched that particular rod.

I haven't had any with the 795, only the 765.

I could call and bug him..lol I cast last month and asked about a 682 spinning. I don't feel comfortable spending big money on a cranking rod. I went with Loomis GLX for my 5/16 and lighter cranks.

As far as flipping I need to be able to fish 1/4 Oz trigs and still be able to punch 1 1/4 Oz.  I read an older thread and I think I'm going with DX 795 FLIP. I'm hoping it's not too stiff, I like a med heavy. I'm starting a new thread, what's best reel for DX 795 FLIP.. lol Thank you guys!
