Looking for small lakes or rivers for bass fishing this season, my son I fish of of Kayaks and have been all over Oakland county and some Northern Michigan areas. Looking to travel southeast and southwest.

I know you said south east south west but up in the central part of the state (Montcalm county) there are plenty of small lakes with little to no boat traffic. This is pretty much all I fish for now is little state land lakes or small public access lakes. Nine times out of ten I'm the only boat on them. Peace and quiet, scenery is great, fishing is awesome, and no boat traffic! Absolutely perfect for me! Good luck in your search.

Southwest Michigan has a ton of small lakes with minimal pressure. Drop your kayak in and you're bound to catch something.

More often than not you'll get super-fast action, lots of smaller fish - rather than catching 1 or two big fish.

If you're in Oakland county, I love fishing the small lakes near Bald Mountain. Perfect to drop a canoe in for a couple hours.
