Carolina Rig Rod recommendations

Featured Replies

Hey guys... What would be a great rod for Carolina Rigged soft plastics, fishing deeper water with Flurocarbon line.  Looking for a rod that provides pretty good bottom contact sensitivity.  Targeting deeper bass in 15 to 30ft water.  What would be a good brand, length, and action?

Lamiglas or Dobyns "735" rods in whatever model your budget is.  I use both with 20b Abrazx and 1/2-1oz weights.  You want a tip on the slower end of "fast".

I like a longer rod that does not have a soft tip for dragging c-rigs and football jigs.

What price range are you looking at?

Are you using FC as the main line?

I use a m jig rod, it's a 7'2" HF Tatula. It works well and is pretty sensitive. I fish 40lb braid to a leader for most of my C-rigging. Usually I'm fishing 10inch curly tail worms. If I was going to get a rod specifically for C-rigging I'd get a longer one but I won't be doing that anytime soon.

100-200$ range.... And yes FC as main line.

Ive noticed using longer  heavier action rods, really make fishing deeper water a little easier.

I've used just about every brand rod looking for the perfect fb jig rod and Carolina rig rod.  For a Carolina rig, a Powell max3d 775 is as good as you'll find in that price range.  It handles 1/2 oz to 1 oz rigs perfectly.
