About all I use is 12# for jigs. Hardly too light.

Never had an an issue with the owner deep throat hooks. 

Dredge Brush jigs with the Owner deep throat hooks.

Not at all i use 15 most of the time.

Best jigs on the market. The northern pike are fond of them, too. They like to bite them off.

What kind of issues do you mean?  You can throw any of the jigs on any line.

As per Mike the deep throat hooks are a lighter wire. The brush jig will be on a 7'2 mhf eternity2 blank and ill be ising 20-30lb braid to 15 lb flouro and could be in any where from sparse cover to heavier cover

I understand now. I’d just adjust the drag. I don’t go below 50 on casting gear, or above 20 on spinning. Often I’m using a leader that is much less anyway. I rarely need to use more than 8 lbs. of resistance.

So you think the dredge would be ok then or shpuld i go to the grid iron

I love the Dredge series. However, I use the one with the heavy Owner hook in heavy cover. Either way, you get a good cutting point hook. Just depends on where you fish and how buttoned down you keep your drag. Mike has made it so you’re basically picking the hook, the head, and the skirt you like. It’s really a custom deal, even though you’re picking off the shelf. Last thing, pay for the wire tied skirt. Those last forever.

Oh im going wire tied i just dont know if i want my first order to be dredge or grid iron

No, because I set my drag to around 6-7 lbs.  If you're fishing slop and need more drag power, then step up to the Grid Iron Brush jig with the heavy owner flipping hook.

 

I do "Napoleon Complex" hooksets, btw.  Lift and separate!

I have a softer hook set which does cause me some fish. I do fish slop depending on the time of year.  I placed my first order the other night for some dredge brush in both 3/8 and 1/2 oz next order will probably be grid iron. And our slop here in MN isnt like the slop in other parts of the country we dp have thick milfoil and then i would more then likely bw punching it.
