Chronarch MGL vs Metanium MGL

Featured Replies

I'm having a hard time deciding between the new Chronarch Mgl and the Metanium mgl. I have a 13 Metanium and absolutely love it, I used it mostly for senkos. I plan on using the new reel for small swimbaits up to 5inches maybe bigger, jigs, and top water. I can get a JDM Met for about the same price as the chronarch, what do you guys think would be the better reel?

For 60.00 more, I'd go with the Met MGL...

Do it right the first time!

MET.....

Someone once told me there were no dumb questions...they were wrong! I'm just kidding, but seriously...The metanium MGL all day long, and you will be one happy guy! Best reel I own by far, and I have the new Antares DC which cost me close to $600. But I would take a metanium MGL over another Antares even if the price were the same, that should tell you something.

Brass gears in a Chronarch MGL may be more durable than the aluminum.  There are many over on another forum (TT) that have held this discussion and there is even a pretty good review on the Chronarch MGL that may sway a vote or two.  The best reel is what works for you...not what others tell you is the best.  These are just suggestions and wish you all the best with the new reel!

That wouldn't be a tough call for me,

I agree with the consensus.

Too bad they still don't offer a Calais style reel in that price range.  I love my 100A reel and it casts beautifully.
