All broken during the retrieve. Also lost a Lucky Craft Slender Pointer in Misty Shad.

So that's where jerkbaits go to die then.

I always wondered.

Might be time to fish a fluke.

Top two are mine, bottom two are my BIL's,. Not sure what he used, but mine are ST36. They're very close to the weight of the stock hooks. Not much changes except the hooks are a lot shsrper.

I wonder how those jerkbaits fish without the bills? Topwater jerk?

That must have been an expensive day... At least you weren't throwing megabass vision 110s at $25 a pop.

Suspending jerkbaits with broken bills don't stay on top very well, but I have a few floating jerkbaits with broken bills that fish as spooks pretty good.  One of them actually worked better after the bill had broken mostly off.

Dang! I think I might have broke one hard jerkbait in the last couple years, and I throw them all the time.

That's strange how those jerkbaits broke, maybe they where made bad? I got jerkbaits(different brand than ones shown) that are several years old that have caught me plenty of decent fish and these jerkbaits have never broken.

Unfortunately, that's the cost of doing 'bidness. But I feel your pain...$75 down the drain this winter - the one you can't see had to be broken off because I couldn't get it free.

I find you can break the bill by slapping the water trying to clear weeds.

Inexcusable. You like the EWGs?

No weeds in this lake, or many of our lakes for that matter.

Nope, that was my brother in laws bait on the bottom. Top one I'd swapped out on a day that I went through 3 sets of hooks due to a huge school of wipers, just hadn't ever changed them back. I use round bend on jerkbaits because I feel like it hooks fish better if they just slap at the bait. I use EWG's on baits like squarebills and traps that they usually inhale better.
