  • No more Walmart bargain posts, ok!? Please, Virginia Walmarts completely ignore all other states. In FAAACT, I bet they even check this site for deals elsewhere and decide NOT to follow

I fish a lot of high end gear including rods over $500, and I have a lighting rod (spinning) that still gets regular use in my lineup. I've fished them since I was a teenager though so maybe I have a

Thought I'd mention that I directly pass 3 Wal Marts on my daily commute to work which adds zero $$ spent in gas to pursue these rods.  And have 13 Wal-Marts within 25 miles of my house.

Drive to the closest Walmart and have them price match.  I ran into this same deal on the 7' MH for $9.  For what ever reason online it would only come up with that price if you were shipping to a single store in my area.  My store price matched it.

If there are multiple Walmarts within 30 miles I think it makes perfect sense.  I have two within 20 minutes of me and the rest of them are all at least an hour away.  When I read about checking more Walmart locations all I though about is how far out are you willing to go.  Obviously if you live in a bigger city there will be a lot more within 30 miles.

found same deal in Indiana, I got one, my store had 60 percent off of all clearance fishing

Up until a month ago I owned two Berkley LR Shock rods, one spinning and one baitcaster.  Both of them worked fine for several years.  I sold them off at a local bass club flea market so I could replace them with better rods.

While working my last job I was on the road everyday in a large territory that stretched from Lower Delaware, through the Eastern half of Maryland and down through Virginia to the NC State line.  Most of my rods came from Walmart Clearance Sections in three States.  I had a Falcon Bucoo Micro M ($40) that I used for Lipless Crankbaits, the two LR Shock rods and a Skeet Reese Worm/Jig rod for $25.  Bottom Line, you can find some really nice little deals there but look the rods over before purchase.  They do tend to get handled a lot by many people and some are not careful.

I have sold off most of my Walmart arsenal in favor of fewer Dobyns rods now that I am retired.  I still have the Skeet Reese, one Bass Pro Extreme and two Gator rods.  One Gator I have owned since the early 90s that I had retied and one given to me by a Friend.  I have gone from 14 baitcasters to 7 and 3 spinning rods to 2.
