Featured Replies

The john boat would be more versidle versitle & carry more people. But for strait bass fishing the 2 seater (that what it dose)

If you fish solo or with a buddy, the bass boat it the way to go.  More stable platform, but on the downside, you may need a bigger motor to run the bass boat.  I split the differnce.  I got a 16-ft trihull with an 85 hp.  You can comfortably fish with 3 guys and it's fast and stable.  I paid $2K and it was worth every penny

What size water will you be fishing ?

If you fish often by yourself or dont want a trailer get a 2 seater bass boat. I have one and i can load it and unload it by myself easily. Its more stable than  a 12ft jon boat with a 36" bottom (my buddy has one)  But it doesnt handle big water quite as  well and it drifts really easily. I could see an aluminum boat lasting longer than the plastic ones. The plastic boat will still last a really long time provided you take care of it.

I choose bass boat but was unsure your description of a 2 seater. Are you talking about those lil bass buggies(for pond or small lakes) or a bass boat/motor..  If you going to fish in a bigger lake I would go for a bass boat, more stable . I was in the situtation you were in a few months ago and looked  and looked and finally found what I was looking for. I got one heck of a boat for the money. But you got to look hard and not make any hasty decisions. I got my boat for  for $1,300. The boat is structurely sound and the motor is well mantained..but like I said you have to look and hunt and not quick decisions.

I prefer the versatility of a jon. I have an Xpress 16' tunnel boat(alweld) with a 40/30 Yamaha jet and I couldn't be happier. I have decks, front and back and probably push close to 30mph when I'm by myself. I take it everywhere, rivers and lakes. This is the 3rd jon that I've owned and is very comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone except a serious tournament angler. Good luck, whichever you decide on.

if your talking one of those bass hunter little pontoon lookin boats id dsay go with the john boat just get one at least about 55" wide. those little boats are light and easy but your really cramped on them. the only plastic boat i really like thats a 2 man rig is the sun dolphin pro 120 is bassically a big bass boat but compact. otherwise im goin with a john you can deck it and make it a bass boat and you wont be cramped.
