Shootout of the $80 reels - PQ, Speed Spool, Aird

Featured Replies

About this time last year,  Bass Pro had their old style discontinued Pro Qualifier reels on sale for $49.00. I bought one for myself & one for a friend.  Big mistake---I should have bought several more!  They're not as good as my $300 Lews, or even my $200 Lews, but I could have had 4 to 6 Pro Qualifiers for one Lews.  Don't know how much Bass Pro will have them discounted during this year's  spring sale.

    1. PQ 2. Aird  3. Lews laser mg   even at $99 the pq is the best value on a feature for feature benefit. I give a nod to the Aird for Daiwa braking.

I'm going to say go with the Lews, but you should know up front Lews reels is all I use, out of all the reels I have used since I started bass fishing the Lews reels have held up the longest and have

Has anyone tried yje Kasyking line of reels?

I have several PQ’s and and a PQ2 (I personally like the original PQ better). I just bought a KastKing Assassin to compare since the Assassin was just on sale for $43.99. Also, since I don’t expect BPS to have stellar sales on the original PQ since it was discontinued, I am looking for a substitute for the PQ.

So far the only 3 things I can about the Assassin say are these:

The KastKing Assassin is 1) really light; 2) when the centrifugal brake is on, it is really noisy (the PQ doesn’t have a *edit* **adjustable centrifugal** brake); and 3) reeling the Assassin seems to take a little more work to turn the handle.

I have yet to even spool up the Assassin so the verdict for me is still out.

Fuego CT. Best $67 I've spent in a long time.
