Odd things in the live well

Featured Replies

I was getting ready to take out the boat sunday after fishing and happen to lift up the livewell to see how much water was in it.  Well, there were 3 mice in the freezing cold water that had probably drowned.  I got to say that is the oddest thing I've found in my livewell.

Whats yours?

No jokes of a FISH ;D

buddy found a snake curled up in his one day, he had left the lid up to air dry it out after cleaning, and forgot to close it.. it was parked under a tree..

Had mice come out of the gunnels while out on the water,,,It was the first spring trip on the jonboat in after it upsidedown outside all winter. I wanted to see one get hammered swimming back to shore, but I felt kinda bad watching them jump overboard.  If only they had like little vest harrnesses to attach a 4/0 to the mouse without ripping the hook thru it. Yea, I know I have problems. :P

Had mice in the livewells and chewed a hole in the drain line. Almost sank the boat. took  about a hour to figure out where the water was coming in. While draining the water for the 3rd time a mouse clogged to drain hole. Then i fugured out how the line got a hole it it.

A halfway decomposed crappie.  Not sure how I missed that one.  Took a month of scrubbing, then open boxes of baking soda to get the smell out.

A raccoon!

A coon had gotten into our livewell for whatever reason (there was shiners in it). Our buddy/neighbor at the marina decide he would sneak up on it and close the lid on it (knowing we were heading out on the lake very shortly) Well we got out there and my grandfather popped that lid on the livewell and it was heart attacks for everyone!!!!

We couldnt believe that we didnt hear it in there throughout the boat ride (which he wasnt once the lid opened). Now we have a ticked off coon on the boat that for some reason was not interested in jumping in the water.

And of course at this time we still didnt know that there was a guilty party involved.

This guy and my grandfather together was like watching the movie Grumpy Old Men in real life.....

ok this is no joke, were i work we have boat storage and we had to do some work on one of the stalls and we keep smelling this bad oder coming from a old stratos and we looked up under the boat in side of it and nothing but we finally looked in the live wells there was a dead cat  :P in the livewell we guessed the cat opened up the livewell to get some bait or something that was left in there and well i guess he could not get out lol

No livewells in the tub but I have to be extra careful and check it really well before flipping it to cartop it......in a year I 've found 4 of those really poisonous scorpions and a couple of black widow spiders.

Hot climates have hot bugs.
