Hey guys We went to Amistad to fish our first tourney this past weekend. Figured y'all might like to know how it went. Saturday we put in at Diablo east and ran over to the 277 bridge and didnt get anything except rough water so we decided to run to the devils river and try our luck. It had run out when I turned into the cove to go to the river i saw somthng i have never seen in my life... a 6 foot wave and it had friends. so my wife and i ducked off in a cove just to be met a few minutes later by Bit Man and my dad we stayed there for a while and fished the banks and ate lunch, Bit man and my dad decided to brave the waves and i decided , being in a smaller boat, we would wait a while finally about 4 oclock I noticedticed that i only had a 1/4 of atank of gas and paniced a little, but the water had calmed a bit so off i went , made it to black brush and finally got her loaded up found all my gas in my bilge. fished form the bank a little and didnt have anything to weigh so i drove back to andrews to lick my wounds. My wife said she wasnt going back and that we were selling the boat, but i told her that she wasnt giving up that easy and i wasnt sellin my old boat. so Ill get the old girl (boat) goin again and give it another go. all i gotta do is rewire from the front of my boat to the console and replace the fuel tank. But anyway heres the point to all this If ur on Amistad and the waves get to 3 feet LOAD UP and try again the next day, cause i learned the hard way its not worth breakin ur boat or ur wife bein scared to death. I think that where im from that other types of fishing are losing popularity, but bass fishing is definatly taking off. It seems like everyone that works in the oilfeild with me loves to fishi for bass. My wife thinks its retarded for me to drive 5 hours to Amistad to not catch more than a couple of keeper bass. but i dont care. Ive got a Playstation and the only game i have on it is a fishing game. I personally dont care if i catch 1 fish or 100 fish as lang as i get to spend time on the water with my 2 best friends (my dad and my brother in law) I was raised fishing and "The good lord willing" my kids boy or girl will be the same way. my wife wasnt raised to do anything except hunt. If you were to tell me that i had to choose between hunting and fishing STAND BACK BOYS cause theres gonna be alot of guns and camo for sale. I love to fish it has brought me closer to my dad and for a short time, My late grandpa who could catch anything using a saftey pin and pocket lint. And im sure that i can speak for everyone here when i say "FISH ON!!!" Derek

I was in the middle of trading tow vehicles bout right, I told my wife that nuthing good was goin to happen the day i traded off Mighty Whighty. I personally want to thank all of you guys for the help you have givin me and for the help i hope you will give me in the future. Im glad hes not here any more and i didnt read his post.. I have noticed on other forums that folks try to make everyone think they are tougher and smarter than everyone else. I for one dont do that, wasnt raised that way. In fact ill be the first to admit if it doesnt have to do with a diesel motor or a wellbore, im lost. so thanks everyone. and esp. Glenn/mods.( have had the pleasure of p.m.'ing with Glenn and he seems like a good ole boy. ) Its nice to have a place to talk to my BIL when the wife tells me to get off the phone. you guys rock. keep it up. Im glad you had fun at BPS, sombody had to stay here and save the world ,one nasty , greasy, smelly, creakin, groanin, oil makin, pump jack at a time. oh you and my dad are goin to fork in may? i see how it is. might have to fish 3 outta the BassCat

I feel i have made a fatal mistake, yes while tinkering with my boat. pumps, hoses, etc. I thought what the hell it wont hurt nuthin, so i hook up the muffs fire up the ole evinrude. sure enough she fires right off (hasnt been started since feb) get it warmed up and just sit there leaning on the cowling smellin the smoke. which im sure that isnt healthy at all but apparently the baitmonkey loves it. spent the rest of the day in my coveralls flippin and pitch at pecans in my yard that havnt been picked up, and christmas lights that havnt been taken off the trees. i think it actually slowed time down cause our first tourney is at the end of this month. my wife has taken my debit card and has threatend to leave me if i go to academy again. so TAKE HEED. Do NOT start ur boat untill your next trip is a day or two away. I LOVE THE SMELL OF 2 STROKE IN THE MORNIN!!! :'( :'( :'( :'(

I stand on the love seat and flip at the dog bowl, works pretty good, the other night i was practiceing and somthing caught my eye on tv and my plug was still in the dog bowl and my 1/2 lab 1/4bull mastif 1/4 blood hound hit my plug and drug it in some "brush" aka under the kitchen table fought em for bout 5 minutes and he spit the plug out and went back to bed. maybe i should post this under the biggest one that ever got away. anyway ive gotten pretty good at hittin the bowl thats how i do it.

speed bead has a good point, my dad checked all of ours with a gallon of water and they were pretty close

beer cans mostly , went fishin in july with a buddy and told him to throw the cans in a sack and we would thrw them away when we got back forgot about it when we got back, got to the lake in febuary and fill the live well up while the motor is warming up go to throw a shakey head in and open the door and bout 30 coors cans come out. never fails

super combo in Texas is $64.00 but i htink next year im gonna forget the hunting part and just get the fishing licsense i think its like 28 unless it goes up again valid through 8/30/06 to 8/31/07
