Hello new from Kentucky

Featured Replies

I was just killing time here at home and stumbled across a video on catching Asian Carp. Being towed behind a boat clubbing or chopping with a sword seems kind or pointless.

I saw an old timer catching the big carp on a cane pole. He was having a ball and I thought it was some what silly to have a rope attached to his cane pole and then tied to a tree. He pulled in a 26.5 pounder! After he re-baited and flipped his line out I don't think the bait had even settled to the bottom and his cane pole arced like he was pulling out a car engine. This one was 48 pounds! I watched him fight it for about an hour and half. When he finally got the fish up on the bank the cane pole was wrecked and had to bring it up hand over hand. Talked with him for a while and shared fishing stories and a beer or two and he told me what he was using for bait.

Strawberry jello, Franken berry cereal, a can of sweet corn and Big Red soft drink.

After seeing the fight that carp put up I want to go and try rod and reels. I have salt water gear I have not used since I moved to Kentucky and with fresh line, reel cleaning and lubrication it should work out just fine. Will I eat them, I don't know I will have to try a small piece properly cooked before I make my mind up about that.

Call me Carp Buster.

Yeah I know it's a bass fishing site, but if I can catch a bunch of carp maybe the Bass, Sauger, Pike, and catfish will not be decimated by the aggressive alien species and have fun doing it.

Greetings Carp Buster and Welcome to the forums  :)

Gimme some cayuts. Dirty birds too nasty when recruiting.

Actually I'm originally from Austin "Hook 'em Horns!"
