River Rock Sale

Featured Replies

I saw where River Rock is having a sale.  Having bought their tubes in the past I am looking to expand into their other baits.  How do their paddle tails compare to a Rage Swimmer.  Also, any other baits that come highly recommended.

I'm a firm believer in their baits for the last few years and the swim bait just flat out catches fish. It isn't the same as the Rage swimmer, it is similar to a Keitech Easy Shiner in that it offers a pronounced side to side kick even at ultra slow speeds and a nice body roll. I like the Striker better as it is 3.75" while the Easy Shiner you have to get either a 3" or 4" and I like swim bait in the 3.5" to 4" range with 3.75" being like perfect. It has enough bulk as a swim jig and chatterbait trailer but a small enough profile for use as a finesse type bait. I've done real well with the River Rock Strikers in cold water fishing them slow along the bottom similar to how I fish a tube.

Thanks for the information, putting an order together now.  Those SM Killer's also look interesting.

That is my number one shaky head worm. It is the only soft plastic that I've even caught a largemouth in water under 40 degrees. I've caught countless smallmouth in water down to freezing but largemouth here shut down when the water is in the 30s, but I was using the SM Killer on a small 1/16oz shaky head I make in 37 degree water and ended up with 3 fish and actually lost 3 that didn't have the hook really well. What made that even better is there were 6 other boats that were fishing the same area and nobody even got as much as a sniff. Anyway, the worm is thin and 4.5", it resembles a finesse worm made by Berkley a pretty long time ago, one of the sides is flat and it gives the tail a lot of movement, as I said, I use it as a shaky head worm but I also like it on a split shot or Mojo rig and a drop shot but when fishing for river smallmouth I fish it on a ball head jig, usually between 1/16oz to 1/8oz with a size 1 hook.
