Flipping/punching setup

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a good flipping/punching reel. I'd like to keep the reel around the $250 mark. Any suggestions ? I've been looking at the lews magnesium pro reel and the revo alx.

The sv103 is a great reel for this and it has the same spool size as the steez.  If your big into flipping the old steez 103 spool with the v shaped line area is very loose and will pitch like a mad man.  The price is changing quick and there are sales.  I picked mine up during the big sale at TW.  7.9 gear set makes the time between pitches very fast.....  I have not swapped spools yet so I have not checked the fit but if your interested I can go home and verify in person.

If your looking at lews get the superduty or the superduty widespool. They are tanks. I have one ive been throwing 8 inch hudds and i also punch with it. Been using it for years and still fishes like a champ

x2 on the Lews Super Duty

X3 on the lews super duty.

Cabela's has em for 99 dollars !

Defiantly going to check out the super duty. Any certain rods you'd recommend ? I'm looking to keep them in the $175-$250 mark. I'm looking at the flipping Dawia zillion and the lews pro speed stick and the custom speed stick lite.

All good choices. I also really like the new Johnny Morris Patriot from bass pro. Very comfortable rod, right at the $200 mark

For well under your budget id look into a lews mach 2 7'4 heavy flipping stick or a lews custom speed stick magnum 7'11 flipping stick. I own both and love them

I wouldn't rule out the lews tp1 speed stick. I have 4 of them and they are great. They fish a touch heavy, so a heavy I feel like would be perfect. I use a 7'3 H for flipping and pitching the heaviest cover I can find and it is a beast. Also way under budget at 100 dollars

Yeah i forgot to say the tp1 also

Great minds think alike!

Sounds like your budget just opened enough to buy another combo...

Yep! Was planning on a 400-450 setup but don't think that's needed.
