There was a US National Team for bass fishing assembled of both FLW and BASS pros. The team members are Scott Martin, David Dudley, Mark Rose, David Fritts, Fred Roumbanis, James Watson, Scott Canterbury, and Lionel Botha. They have hopes of one day making bass fishing an Olympic sport as they will be traveling to South Africa to fish in a tournament against other countries. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think bass fishing has a shot at becoming an Olympic sport?

No, not in the near future.

Baseball may be brought back, but I just can't fathom individuals who have no knowledge or understanding of bass fishing voting to have it an Olympic event.

Now with that penned, stranger things have happened.

No shot. The Olympic organizers are all about the $$$, and there is just not enough of it (or global appeal) in bass fishing.

Trying to make fishing an Olympic sport is silly.  How can you showcase the best in the world when there is so much luck involved in it?  No other Olympic sport has that variable.  You either run faster than the other competitors, swim faster, jump higher, flip and twirl better, etc, etc.  You can be a far better angler than your competitors and still fail to win all the competitions you participate in.

Marketing events is my best guess.
