I'm just wondering if anyone else has a tackle box that they keep their favorite lures in?  You know, the ones that almost always seem to produce when other, similar,even identical ones fall short.  Over the years I've found that there is something about them that sets them apart from the majority of baits I own. I actually have two boxes. One for hard baits and one for bags of plastics.  The plastics are chosen by brand.  You may call them your confidence baits, but I have confidence in a type of lure in a given situation.  What I'm talking about is a specific lure that separates it from others, even if it's only because I think it does.

When I fished tournaments I'd often go to that box after getting my limit, or when time was getting short and I felt I needed to get one more fish to put me in the money. I don't consider them magic, but under the right circumstances that's the box I reach for.

I've done this for years. Always take along a box with proven lures I know will work when others won't.

Isnt it funny how some lures are really good and others junk . I have two Rattlin Thin Fins that are night and  day different .

Yep, small Plano 3600 with a small tackle box inside it, it has Senkos, Zoom Super Flukes in it and the little tackle has hooks and rubber tubing for the Senkos. 

 

I keep one up front for me and one in the back for the co-angler so that they don't need to come to the front of the boat to get the essentials. 

 

I love topwater, so I had one that had KVD Sexydawgs and Ragetail frogs. Now it's filled with Whopper Ploppers and my homemade Teckel Sprinker Frogs. 

I also keep a plano box with the essentials-

Senkos

Caffeine shads

Culprit worms

Zoom lizards

And keitechs.

Are you asking about brand/model? Or specific individual lures that are "better" than supposedly identical ones? But in either case, yes, and yes.

Specific lures.

As an example, I have a Fat Free Shad that triggers strikes when an identical one stops producing.  Some of the hard baits in that box have been customized by adding 3D eyes, adding or removing color to an area, or adding a feathered treble.  For the most part, though, they are identical to the ones in my big box. I'm thinking of adding a second box for topwaters as it is full to the point of being over stuffed. 

I've got enough gear that if a lure makes it into the boat, it is a "favorite."   On further review, I've got LOTS of favorites.  Still, I try to pick a bait based on current situations.

I don't have a favorites box but when I go in my kayak, which is 90% of the time, I do bring my crate with all my 3700 series plano boxes, but.....................one box has the lures, plastics, jigs, that I think I'll use that day and I slide it under my seat. 

 

Yes. My "go to" box contains a variety of senkos, rhythm waves, a couple of jigs and trailers, a couple jackall pompodours, a Cavitron buzzbait, a pop max, and a few spinnerbaits. 

Kind of. Not so much for hardbaits as I keep them all together based on what they are and I know which ones are special. For plastics I separate them into 2 different tackle bags. One bag is for top producers and another bag filled to the brim with the extra not as often reached for baits. I do this mainly to help save time when changing plastics. I prefer to leave them in the original package so keeping only all the go to's in a bag by themselves makes finding easier.
