South of Boston - Looking for Help

Featured Replies

In Massachusetts and interested in going fishing with my 6 year old son.  My father and I fished a bit.  Although we weren't expert fisherman, we enjoyed the father and son time spent together.  Hoping my son and I can create that time also.

Struggling to find the right reel and rod for me.  Twenty five years ago, I had access to limited information, now there is a lot of information, and each equipment has its people who love it or hate.

If you have any suggestions on rod and reel, within 150 range, I'm all ears.  Bait casting and or spinning. Interested in using in fresh and salt water.

Looking forward to being here and learning from all of of you.

Hello and welcome aboard! You may need 2 rods and reels. I got a Lew's Carbon Speed Stick 6'6" medium power fast action spinning rod with a 6.2:1 reel at Academy for $70. It's a nice rod and reel for fresh water. You probably need something either heavy or extra heavy for salt water. Good luck finding what you need/want.
