I have 2 reels, a HA 3000, and the ultra light pflueger president reel I got from a combo.

The HA 3000 can take up to 8-12 pound line, but the maximum the pflueger can take is 8/110 braid in lb/yds. For mono its 6/90.

 

Will there be any performance issues, or issues at all if I use this 8 pound test fluorocarbon on the ultra light rod. 

I'd stick with a good castable mono like Trilene XL or Stren if I wasn't using braid (which I would recommend).

Might not be as ultra light with 8 as it would be with 6 or 4lb test.

Additionally, an ultra light rod is routinely designed to cast very, very light baits - something 8lb test might not excel at.

But if you keep a real low profile and most always fish after dark, The Line Police might never be the wiser . . . .

Look at the line diameters to determine spool capacity. Compare 6 lb Trilene to 7 lb Sunline Super Sniper.

The very first thing I show people on the reels that they're interested in is the line capacity numbers. Same goes for the rods that they look at. Then I inquire about what type of lures they're throwing with the setups they're looking at.

 

Please do yourself a favour; follow the guidelines on the rods and reels. It'll help you in the long run, and you won't be demanding more than your equipment can offer.

8lb fluoro can be tricky, even on a 3000 sized reel, it will be hopeless on a small ultralight reel. Unless there's a really good reason you want to use 8lb fluoro as a mainline on a spinning reel, using mono or braid will be much less aggravating.

You can, but I wouldn't. You won't fit very much line at all on that reel using 8 lb test, and you're going to have management issues. Also, you're using an ultralight so 8 lb test is overkill, I'd drop down to 4 or 6 lb test or switch to braid that has the same diameter as 4 or 6 lb test mono.
