Can I use a drop shot weight for bottom fishing?

Featured Replies

All I have is drop shot weights for bottom fishing I don't have bank sinkers for live bait fishing. Is it ok to use the drop shot weights or should I buy bank sinkers?

Why not?

Give it a shot....worst case it doesn't work and you spend what  you would pay for a cup of coffee

What size weights are you using? Tungsten weights are expensive, lead weights are a lot cheaper regardless of the weight type.

Couple of options, Water Gremlin Dipsey lead size 9 (3/16 oz) are about $1.80 for 10 each, round lead drop shot sinkers are about $2.30 for 7 each 3/16 oz. sliding egg sinker with a split shot are less expensive then a bass or Dipsey sinker of the same weight. Your talking about .18c each vs .21c each. I would say use the drop shot weights if you have them.

How and where are you gonna clip dropshot weight on the line? I can see some weakness on the line where you clip dropshot weight especially with bigger line diameter.
