hey guys,

 Im thinking about getting a few Keitech swimbaits and curious as to what size would be the goto for bass? Should I go with the Swings? Fat Swings? Easys?

 

 Also, should I be using a weight head jig hook or more of a keel weight hook? What size?

I really like the 3.8" and the 4.3" for smallmouth.  I actually really like Strike King Shakey Heads for these but I use Strike King Squadron heads as well. 

Do they work well on large mouth as well? I mean, Id assume so, what I meant was do they excel on SM versus LM?

I have had fine luck with them and LMB.  I have exclusively used mine as trailers for chatterbaits or on an underspin.  I think 3.8" or 4.3" is an ideal size, although I have also caught plenty on the 4.8" Swing Impact Fat in Bluegill Flash.

 

When putting them on an underspin head I like to pick the weight of the head based on the depth I want to run.  1/4oz keeps things pretty shallow.  1/2oz will be closer to 6-8ft in my limited experience at a modest retrieve speed.

 

If I weren't running an underspin I would probably default to a belly weighted hook.

I'm know plenty of folks that catch plenty of LM on them, I just don't fish a lot of places that have shad as a main forage base so the keitechs aren't my usual go to's when I'm going after green ones.  I almost always flip/pitch/frog for LM.  I have thrown the 4.8" on a belly weighted hook (Owner Beast 4/0) and they work well. Like the post above, they are great as a swim jig or bladed jig trailer also.

Pretty much all sizes and jig heads and belly weighted work well you will want a variety of both. Use the jig heads as much as possible and use the belly weighted hooks when the cover is too much for the jig head.

I'm using the 3.8" FAT swing's and with a War Eagle underspin head, it's a bit heavy, but it has great action in the water and casts quite well.

 

I'm thinking of rigging one up with a belly-weighted hook and trying that out.

i only use the fat impact, the normal impacts are pretty thin and will get torn in half much easier. As for size, I'll go down to the 2.8 on a little jighead or up to the 5.8 on an owner beast hook. I'll use them as trailer in the 4.3 size.
