I honestly feel hurricane Irma was overhyped and had a feeling it wasn't going to compare to

Bingo!  I agree 150%.  I watched the coverage on TV and youtube(they broadcast live the local TV stations in Florida).  It seemed the TV people were only interested in standing in the high winds and water(the next day) and looking cool, trying to be the next big TV star.  Some station down there that goes by WINK TV, their TV 'reporters' were really lame.  I saw one lady reporter stand by a stop sign, sign fell and she jumped out of the way.  But it had a suspicious look about it, like it was staged or partially staged.

After saying that - yeah, I know the people got flooded down there and the keys got wiped out.  Too bad about that.

Look....

I couldn't care less what a reporter reports or doesn't report.

You and other folks who don't live anywhere near here have no idea what it's like to live through one of these.

To imply that this hurricane or any hurricane that effects people's lives is anything but an life altering event is just plain insulting.

Not only to the people who lost their homes, everything they own, but worse yet to the memory of the people who lost their lives!

I would never ever minimize the effects of a tornado, flood or any other natural disaster that may effect any region of the country, because it's nothing but that..

A Disaster!!

Sorry, but over hyped? Insensitive much? Tell that to the thousands in Key West, Naples, Miami, Bonita Springs, and I could go on and on. I had 120 mph winds at my house, some had higher.

Sorry, but this whole experience is still too raw to even entertain the idea of over hype.

very much agreed.........

Had a 106 mph gust in my county. We got power back after 29 hrs on tues. My boss still doesnt have power . I can say this with no doubt- it is the worst flooding in the st johns and its tributaries  in the jax. area  I have seen in my lifetime.

We were blessed just to have a roof leak and a mess to clean up at our place. We are at 22 ft above sea level so our lake drains well, as the creek goes downhill to the river. We have a small dam/ spillway at my house where the ditch/ creek starts and it was flowing with such force it took our triploid carp gate off and down into the spillway. Eel grass piled up in there too and me and the nieghbor have a job ahead cleaning it up.H ad a big cedar tree down across the road next door but me and the nieghbors got it out of the way in 10 minutes.

Our results was - flooding equal or worse than hurricane Dora in 1964. Wind had gusts as high but not as high sustained.I have a video but cant post it.

Also glad you are okay - was wondering how you were doing with the flooding up there.  Good to hear another good report.

I just noticed that you fish Charlotte Harbor. I live in Rotunda and fish the harbor a couple times a week.

Since retiring I live full time in a motorhome and currently on the east coast while my older grandkids live in the house.

When I get home we should meet up sometime
