In a few days I will hopefully be getting my Junior Driver's License. Am I allowed to drive with a boat? Am I allowed to leave the United States? If I get pulled over for a brake light on my trailer or something, how will the police likely react if I am not allowed to drive at these hours or drive a trailer. Any other advice about my PA Junior License is appreciated. Just want to be safe and know the laws so i don't get into trouble. Thanks

Surely there's a better source for this information than a bass fishing forum? Don't you get any paperwork with your license telling you what it does or doesn't allow you to do? There must be a website for the department that issues the license.

Call your DMV or search your local government's website. Asking for legal advice online isn't a very wise idea. If you're doing something against the law and get pulled over, you should expect a citation for the violation. If it includes you operating or pulling a vehicle you're not allowed to, you're not going to be allowed to leave with it because liability will fall on the officer if something happens down the road. 

What is a junior drivers license? A permit? Pretty strict rules around these parts.

In PA i'm not aware of any law that says you can't pull a trailer, just no more than one passenger under 18 for 90 days and no driving between 11pm and 5am. How the police react is a case by case thing, depends on the cop and it depends a lot more on your attitude. Pre-trip your truck and you won't have to worry about getting pulled over for a tail light out.

So, I went and read the Penn. laws. No, the answer is no, you cannot tow a trailer unsupervised, that would be my interpretation of what I read from the Jr DL law.

Are you sure on that? You can't drive a car unsupervised with a PA learners permit, but if that's the case I broke a lot of laws growing up and so did a bunch of farm boys I've known that hauled a lot of hay.

I think it was ok for farm work back in the day. Not sure though. PA Permits needs adult with license over 21 in passenger seat.

LOL, work was one of the exceptions. Look, rather than arguing with me, go see for yourself, Google is your friend and I found and read the entire law. It was a Pdf. 

 

I stay with what I said, my interpretation of the law as I read it, no, the answer is no to trailer towing for fun and pleasure.

Really though, I read through all I could find (title 75 sec 1503) and saw nothing about a trailer, however I did notice that if a young Pennsylvanian worked at a bait and tackle shop, they may be allowed to leave earlier than 5 AM to go test baits with an affidavit from their employer, and if they should fish for charitable purposes, they are also exempt.

It is not a liberty because not all drivers are created equal.
