"Obviously this world disappoints you."

-Pinhead-

Why yes. Yes it does. I find the status quo, to be horribly boring and over rated. Why should I strive for mediocrity and to, "keep up with the Jones'". When I feel that the Jones' should be trying to keep up with me? Yet, I don't want the Joneses to keep up with me. I want to be out of their league completely. I want them and the world to lust for what I have. I want that which is the unattainable. That which everyone seeks, but few attain. The lifestyle and the oppulance which was mine for the taking as a teenager. That which I passed up because I was a stupid child, that wanted to party and have no responsibilities. That opportunity is gone. It is never going to return and it is never going to be a reality. However, new doors open as old doors close. There are more ways than just one to achieve a goal. So now instead of using physical condition and talent. I now must use mental condition and prowess. To achieve, that which is considered the pinnacle, of the societal majorities view of success. All while staying true to my beliefs and code of living. To say this is a large task is a massive understatement. For I am the anti society. I am the Autmn Wind. I am the "pirate" which blows through the trees. I am the Raider. For in order to find the raider you most first be the raider. But in order to be a wealthy, well off raider. You must occasionally intermingle with and use society and the gifts you have in order to achieve that.

As an electrician I am at the top of my game. As an artist, my sculptures are known from coast to coast in the construction trade. I make a decent amount of money from custom pieces and specialty pieces. My metal jewelry is not as well known, yet raises decent amounts of money for various causes that I choose to make it for. All three of these I view as success' in my life. However, its not enough. I want to try my hand at business in general. I have all the pieces except one to make this new endavour a success. That one is my Masters Liscence. There for Raider is about to begin studying, that's right studying, for the most difficult test that I have attempted. I don't know why but this test scares the hell out of me. I'm sure its in no way as bad as I make it out to be in my head. However, it is the ultimate culmination of all that I have worked for. It is my equivalent of a doctorate or masters degree, I guess describes it best. I think it may be the beginning of the end to means of that which I seek. So here begins a new journey in the saga which is the life of Bass Resources very own..... Raider the Great. I started this with a quote, and shall now end it with a quote.

"If your mind can conceive it. You will achieve it. Because Normal Sucks."

Raider, the test varies from state to state, or county to county, or, as the NEC states; the authority having jurisdiction. But, it is all about the Code. You dont need to study the Code. You need to study how to find a particular topic in that dastardly difficult to navigate book. You will be able to use the book. The main problem with the testing is the time limit. If you cant navigate the book, you wont finish in time.

You will be able to find sample tests online. Use as many of those you have time for to practice finding answers in a hard copy of the NEC. There wont be much if any technical stuff on the test. You will not likely be asked to calculate fault currents, for example. Thats the engineer's job. You are likely to be asked about hazardous areas, Article 500. They need to know you can do an installation to Code.

Good luck!!!

I got that miserable code book down pat. That's the easy part. Its the same as the journeyman test. Its the business law and business related half of the test that is going to be difficult.

Ahhhhh, it seems that another name change is in order.  "Resident Philosopher"

Be careful.  In your search for the meaning of life, don't let it be said of you that "much learning hath made thee mad".
