Deep V Aluminum Boats

Featured Replies

Are any of you familiar with Smokercraft deep V aluminum fishing boats? I'm looking to purchase a 1998 Smokercraft 172 Salmon. It has a 2015 Mercury, 115  EFI 4 stroke with only 40 hrs. on it. It's a one owner boat, well maintained, good condition. Only other deep V boat I have owned was a 1998, 18.5 ft. Fisher and it was a solid boat. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Soild boat brand. Only complaint I've heard is they are not the driest of rides

Smokercraft builds a solid, reliable boat...lots of Smokercraft hulls older than 1998 around here still doing the job.

I like that the boat has a newer, modern, 4-stroke on it...that Merc's a good engine if it's been taken care of.

I can't comment on dry/wet rides, have not been in one when waves have been high enough to make a difference.

Agree with slonezp, there are quite a few around the SE MI area lakes and Smokercraft seems to have been around for long enough that owners must be happy. But as with any used boat make sure you take a test drive to see if there's any water in the bilge afterward and that it feels solid (the hull that is). Sounds like a nice boat/deal.
