Dobyns Fury or Powell Max 3D

Featured Replies

As the title says, which is better and why. Specifically a medium, 7'-7'3 rod.

Powell Inferno ?

I am deciding between the two above and am keeping it between the two

this year was the first year i had a fury and i can without a doubt say i will be ordering more, they are amazing rods i have not used the 3d max though so i cannot help you there, i would read all the reviews on tackle warehouse as well

I  own 5 of the fury’s and the original Powell max rods but I’ve never had a max 3D in my hand. I  like both the Powell’s and the fury’s. I’d probably go with a 3 power fury in 703 or 733 if given the choice. Very versatile rod.

Between just those two the max 3d hands down.

I have the Powell Max 3D 714 MH/EF spinning rod which I use for worms/t-rigs, and I compare it to my Daiwa Tatula 6'10 MH/F. The Powell has a more vibrant sensitivity feel compared to the Daiwa, for me. The Daiwa feels more "muted" when it gets hit and when I'm feeling for structure compared to the Powell Max 3D.

I can't compare to the Dobyn's, but the Daiwa is a nice rod with a very nice tip, but I feel like the Max 3D is even better.

I haven’t handled the Powell, but own a few fury rods and I am really enjoying them. It’s going to come down to personal preference as to which one suits you best
