Anyone have any experience with this reel?  I'm looking at replacing my current t-rig/jig reel over to this model and just want to hear any pros/cons you may have experienced while using it.  

I own the 6.8:1. I use it on a spinnerbait/chatterbait rod but it's going to jerkbait duty shortly. It's a fantastic reel to say the least. Casting distance is great, it's lightweight, and it cast lightweight baits very well, I throw 1/8oz swimbaits with this reel. I also have the similarly priced Daiwa Tatula CT and I prefer the Tournament MB over it. 

The MB is a good solid reel. I am all Lew's baitcasting reels these days and the Super Duty reels are my primary but I pull out a MB to handle lighter presentations. As the previous poster pointed out casting distance is great and the reels feel solid and smooth. No problems handling the biggest bass I hook into in Maryland.

I have two of them and have no cons whatsoever. 

I have a extra spool for both, I keep floro on one and braid on another.

I have 4 of them. 7.5 and 8.3. I use them for everything you would throw on a baitcasters except flipping and Frogging. These are my main go to reels.

i keep one on a worm/jig rod and I'm happy with it. It's light, small and palms nicely. I like it as much as my curado 70's,  (it doesn't cast light lures quite as the 70) but still handles them sufficiently. 

I don't have anything negative to say about the reel except the lews emblem fell off a couple of weeks into using it... First world problem. 

Not sure if you got one already but I recently had issues with an MB.  It is the only Lews I've had issues with (out of about 10 reels) but I got some gnarly grinding going on with it just recently.  Out of nowhere it started making terrible noise on cast and retrieve and felt like it had rocks in the gears.

 

I had caught some nice fish out of grass with that reel so I had pulled pretty hard on it - not sure if that is what did it. After turning the reel handle backwards about 10-15 degrees the grinding went away.  I no longer trust the reel or its twin I was using for topwater; which is a bummer because up to that point I absolutely loved those reels.  I plan to stick to the Super Dutys in grass from now on and I'll just use the MBs for loaner reels...

Not really a lews guy, but I can respect what they offer, i just sold my BB1 Pro but my thought on it are still very high. I find lews are build very solid and are seem like they can take a beating. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another.

Arlo, I PMd you about selling em.  I really would be happy to get em to someone that will appreciate em. They are lefties though.

I have six MB’s. Probably the best value in casting reels available. Duel cast control and a one piece aluminum frame, sub-7oz for $140? You’d have to spend $200+ to get all those features in another brand.

Been using a 7.5:1 for the past 6 months.  Tried it it for spinner bait, square bills, lipless, jigs, and worms.  Liked it so much I bought another in 8.1:1. For $108 on EBay (or full price), I think it is worth every penny.  

 

 

I'm planning on buying an MB in the very near future.  It'll be the first new reel I've bought in a long time (last nrw reel was a Quantum 1310CP)!  I looked at all of my favorite brands and the MB just had all of the features I wanted and at a dang good price.  Now I've just got to decide between the 6.8 or 7.5 gear ratio.  

Purely gonna come down to a preference thing.  Personally, I would go 7.5.  I have yet to find myself wishing I had a slower reel for any application.  Either way, I think you will be very glad you bought an MB.

I just got a second 7.5:1 for Christmas. I love the reel. Use it for all around stuff. Everything from texas rigs to froggin. Great reel.

How long have you had it and have you taken it apart to clean it and lube it up in that time?

I have 2 and have nothing but good things to say.

I went ahead and purchased the reel and have used it three times.   Based on how its performed so far, I would recommend this reel if you're considering it.

 

Reel is extremely smooth, feels solid, drag is good, ridiculous casting distance.  I was able to get a 1/2 swim jig at least 45 yards out, I was kind of surprised to see my jig fly like that honestly.  Gone down as far as a 1/8 shakey head (on a mh rod) and still get around 25-30 yards out of it.

 

Obviously still to early to comment on durability, but I have no reason based on the feel and past experiences with Lew's to think this will be an issue.

Great reel. If one wants to save $20, the Bass Pro Johnny Morris Carbonlite 2.0 and Lew's Tour MB have exact same specs. One is white the other is black.

They are the same reels aren't they?  I always thought Lewis and BPS used the same oem factory. That hook keeper they shared is patented to the same company in SK I think.  Been a while since I looked it up.  I like the MB I had for six months then it started showing signs of wear.

I have 2. They are solid and what I feel is the best for that price point.

Congratulations.  I like mine and am a fan of dual brake reels.  Quite a few have claimed their Lew's outcasts (for distance) any other reel they have.  I have not found that to be true for me.  An awful lot depends on the rod and lure being used.  I consider 45 yards to be a good distance for me and have several reels that will do that consistently.  Have done quite a bit more than that a few times.  For sure a 3/4 oz. spoon will fly a long ways.
