I recently had an accident clearing brush and broke a rib, sprained my wrist, plus poison ivy.  And I already I n the middle of some dental procedures.   It sucks.  Too painful to kayay.  I have never dropshotted.  May just dead stick a small worm, slow retrieve on spinning rod.  I haven't fished much from shore in a while.  Suggestions, please

Sounds like a good time to go full bore with the Ned Rig.

Slip shot rig, it's a finesse C-rig, search "slip shot" for details, it will not cure poison ivy! You have a spinning outfit, what size line?

With a sprained wrist it sounds like either a dropshot (lots of pauses and not a lot of hookset force required) or a wacky worm rigged with a circle hook (again, slow presentation and little to no hookset force required) would be my first choices.  The Ned is great but it is mostly a chuck/wind presentation with various amounts of rod movement, so depending on how bad the sprain it, it might be painful or annoying to fish it for long.

To answer Tom's question, I use 8 lb test braid with 6 lb test mono leader.

 

Was thinking of trying a drop shot or split shot rig or maybe a small jig worm.  I have some Zoom finesse, 6 inch straight tail Creme and small Luck E Strike with curl tail.Want something slow that I don't have to chuck a lot.  Broken rib is on dominant side.  Sprained wrist is non dominant, left side.  I have been working, but haven't felt like fishing yet.  Just a week. Anxious to get out while the weather is so mild.

Slip shot rig is perfect for your tackle. 1/8 oz mojo ot pro jo tubular weight, 8mm faceted glass bead (red) Carlonia Keeper and Owner 5133 size 1/0 hook. Roboworms in 6" straight or curl tail worms in Aaron's Magic and MM111 or oxblood red flake all will work. Weight about 24-36" above the hook.

I wish you speed recovery, in the meantime think it is a good time to learn new techniques, finesses that is. Dropshot is good you don't really need to do anything just move you lure once a while. Senko is also known to get bite for doing nothing. Bring a long handle net with you to aid when landing big bass if you can.

Thanks everyone.  Never really tried a drop shot or c rig/slip rig.  Bought some drop shot and split shot weights, glass beads.  Already had small hooks.   Gonna give it a try. 

Size 1 Hook with a Neko Rigged Robo Worm. Work it pretty slow.

Stay inside until spring.

 

With your safety record you don't need to be around any water.

 

OK, so you want to finesse fish. Great.

 

Finesse fishing is the best anytime of the year.

 

I am sure you have a medium heavy 7-foot fast action tip rod; a 6:1 spinning reel; some 8-pound braid laying around; some jig head hooks, like 3/0 or smaller; a pliers; a line cutter; some Neosporin; a tetanus shot; PFD; your health insurance card; a list of people to call when you are on your way to the hospital; a cowbell; an LSU sweatshirt for good luck; and flares. The last items are not for fishing but I think you may need them.

 

Go out and flip and pitch your plastics of your choice; throw your small spinnerbaits; small lipless crankbaits; small crankbaits; and go have some fun. Drop shot is also an option with a drop shot setup.

 

And remember to yell "Geaux Tigers" when you set that hook. If you say "hotty toddy" or ring the cowbell you will lose the fish.

The "standard" line choice is 10lb braid to 8-10lb floro.  

 

I use 8lb braid to 12lb floro.  I go light on the braid for casting distance and heavy on the leader for both a little deeper running depth and a little pickerel bite off protection.

Braid with a leader is the best way to go for a Ned rig. I use 10lb KastKing Super Power braid to a 2-3 foot leader of 8-10lb line.

Whatever you do especially with having a sprained wrist don't throw a Ned rig or you may wear it out more

I would think something like shaky heads or drop shots would be a good choice, and it's a good opportunity to learn something new. I would probably go with the drop shot myself, it's a fairly versatile setup, can be fished in multiple different ways and can catch fish all year long as well. In fact, it's a rig I plan to work on myself next summer.
