What are your settings for pitching/flipping?

What settings do you use on your baitcasting reel when pitching/flippin’ to shore, pads, docks?  I’ve always pretty much been a free spool guy - Should probably mess with brake settings more but I hate losing distance.

Curious to what others do to get maximum distance and fewest backlashes... brake, centrifugal settings, etc?

Flipping doesn't really involve any freespool.  For pitching, I use a free spool, and high braking.

"Let me show you this reel, I had it made custom, all the settings go to 11. You know, maybe you are casting and casting, and with a regular reel, if you go to 10, then what?...This one goes to 11..."

Free spool?  Naw.  Maybe like 95% loose...just in case i need to make a skip or longer cast.

Also brakes are medium to high depending on lure weight and my proficiency in avoiding backlashes for that day.  The brakes slow it down just enough especially if you have to skip/cast.  Braking wont limit distance if you set it right for the distance you can accurately pitch.

Same as casting. Maybe a touch looser on tension knob.

Pretty loose on the spool tension for pitching, but not free spool for me. You really never get too much speed on your spool when you're pitching, so I don't feel braking settings matter much, especially centrifugal brakes.
