Bladed jig observation questions

So I have tried a bladed jig a few times and have yet to hook up.  I read an article about how the pulses best simulate an escaping craw.  This made a lot of sense.  I have tried to get them to bite on baitfish colors, am I going at it wrong.  Planned to get one or two in green pumpkin with black blade and trail a craw.  Is this a better plan????

A bladed jig can represent a craw, a shad, a bluegill, an obscure alive thing that bass wants to eat, etc.

From the sounds of it, all you need to do is spend more time with it. Just vary your colors, retrieves, and location until you connect!

the bladed jig is one of my favorite baits. It produced most of the bigger fish I caught this year.

one key to my success this year was fishing just fast enough to feel the blade thump.

In relatively open water I will usually use a  paddletail swimbait as a trailer.  usually some combination of white and silver.

In cover or weeds I will use a craw style of trailer to get a bigger profile. in stained water black and blue. in clear water pumkin or green pumpkin.

Yea I haven't given it a lot of time.  Been focused on the swaiver this fall and just looking for a good backup and something to throw near laydowns.  Just purged my spinnerbaits as they never really grew on me.

I use a wide variety of colors, but black and blue is one of my big fish colors, even in clear water.

I have pretty good luck fishing green pumpkin around vegetation. I use the same trailers on the bladed jig that I would if I were fishing a regular jig in the weeds.
