Guess the Weight- Channel Cat from NM

Featured Replies

I came across these pics from years ago. It’s a Channel Cat that I landed from Shady Lakes - little Bass ponds located in Albuquerque, NM.  Caught this beast using trout guts. Any guess to it’s weight? Never measured it. I’m guessing 12-14 lbs.

Tough to tell with nothing to really compare it to. Looks like a big spawning male with that swollen, dark colored head.

All I had for scale was a large jar of salmon eggs. My digital scale was out of batteries that day. Go figure

That is one fat cat. I say new state record @ 45 pounds. Keep fishing. :D
