Tough Getting Old

Featured Replies

Not sure where to put this but quite certain it will get moved to the appropriate forum by someone. I have a good memory, it just doesn't last very long the saying goes and I can definitely relate. Some time back, I read about and/or watched a video about an unusual modification/use of rubber core sinkers and liked the idea enough to put rubber core sinkers on my "things to order before Spring" list. The problem is I can't for the life of me remember what the deal with the sinkers was.

Does this ring a bell for anyone?

I have used rubber core sinkers to add weight to wide gap hooks. I remove the rubber core and crimp the weight around the shank of the hook. Some call them belly weighted hooks.

Seems certain shaped weights might work halfway decent for dropshotting

As stated above, they are great drop shot weights.

I have used them for dropshotting.

I used to Carolina Rig a hollow body tube.  I put a piece of Styrofoam inside the tube body, and then Texas rig it with a small #2 wide gap hook right through the styrofoam and tube.  It worked well and would float high behind a big weight digging along the bottom.  I haven't done that for years, old school stuff, that just worked in grass!  Lol

I use the 1/8th ounce size to weight Strike King Mini spins  . Take the rubber out and crimp it on the hook .
