I am dedicated to learning how to fish a hollow body frog this year. I have read about people adding a few BB's inside the body of the frog to add weight so the frog sits a bit more in the water and adds casting distance. 

 

Just curious how many of you do this or if you noticed a difference?

I'd say it would be more for noise than for casting distance and weight. That's just my opinion though. Not a frog expert

put a few BBs in a frog, and move the frog as it would move on the water. Don't over shake it. There is very very little sound that comes out. If you want noise, get a few tiny brass bells or glass rattles. BBs, split shots, anything of that sort will hardly make any sound

I use worm weights, those cone shaped weights commonly used for texas rigging a lure. They are less likely to come out IMO and you can get them as light as 1/16 oz. Plus I have a bunch of them sitting around in various weights so I don't have to go out and buy any. 

I’ve added a few split shots to a couple of my smaller frogs. Seemed to get me a noticeable difference in casting distance. 

 

I couldn’t hear much noise. A little, maybe. But not much. Like Bigturtle said, for noise- try additional nag beads. 

I add 3 BB's to Booyah frogs all the time. It helps me get a few more bites when I am fishing thick over head matted grass. For two reasons...it makes the frog push down in the water a little bit more instead of riding high on the mat, and adds just a touch more sound that the fish can zero in on when they can't see it. I found the fish missed the frog much less when I started doing this. I used to add weight to the frogs by putting chunks of heavily salted stick baits in the body, and that helped with the water displacement on mats, but added no sound. I was getting fewer misses doing this, but still more than I did before adding the BB's. 

 

Any more than that, and it changes the way the frog behaves in the water. It'll sit too low, and affect the way it walks for me.

Don't think it made any difference.

 

My H2O frogs work great without any beads or scent soaked sponge inside the body.

I've put glass rattles in a frog, not sure it made a difference to the fish

I strongly recommend using the silver BBs if you're set on using them at all. The copper ones believe it or not will cause the frog/hooks and your box to rust. My personal experience. A much better alternative is rattles.

I dont have a lot of experience throwing frogs . I went fishing with a friend at a farm pond and he showed me to put pieces of plastic worm in them to add weight and add a little noise . We caught fish that day , thats  all i know .
