Now that I’ve got your attention,  are they worth the extra money? They seem way over hyped. One of their glide baits is almost $100?!? I’d consider buying their cheaper baits around $20. I’ve bought a savage gear duck and I like it, bass seem to fighting a lot with it. Anything special about megabass? Worth it? Would you purchase anymore?

i really like the vision 110 as well as my islide the reason the 262 is so expensive is size. granted it shouldn't be that much considering it is plastic glide bait, but i think the jerkbaits are worth it. the swimbaits can be found cheaper used on this forum and others just depends on what you want to spend.

Value and worth is all dictated by each individual person. I've never bought a megabass lure and never will. But that being said, I've got 200-300 dollar combos that I probably won't even catch a fish on or even take with me on trips, yet I could buy 2 vision 110's and probably put 200 fish in the boat this spring. Just depends on if you're will to pay to play

I do think the 110 along with a few others are worth it, but that is where it stops for me

Megabass baits are the top of the line, like Steetz rods and reels and the G. Loomis line of rods.

 

It really boils down to confidence. Do you have confidence that the Megabass baits will produce more strikes?

 

The fish really don't care about the bait's brand or price. If you can use a parallel bait to the Megabass bait and it produces strikes and catches the bass then you stay with the lower cost bait as you will have confidence in throwing it.

 

On the other hand, it you are a serious tournament fisherman and want any perceived advantage over the other tournament guys then you go with the higher priced baits as you will have more confidence in them attracting bass than the lower costing baits. (Even though many guys on this site suggest you change the treble hooks on some of the higher priced baits)

 

I caught my two eight-pound personal bests on a Senko and a KVD Strike King 1.5 Squarebill Sexy Shad crankbait. And if you look at the lunker pages in Bassmaster Magazine you can note the baits the guys and gals are using to catch those big ladies and they are right off the shelf, nothing fancy or on the high priced end of the spectrum.

 

Confidence. It boils down to, as usual, confidence in your baits, rods, reels, line and techniques.

Get a Vision 110 and a 110+1. Use 8-12# flouro on a 7' med rod.

 

Pop Max is the other MB I use successfully.

I have 3 popmax poppers and might add a couple more of their topwater lures. I'm confident with their lures but I'm also confident with other less expensive brands. Like said before the fish don't know what brand of lure you are using.

A $20 Popmax has accounted for more fish the past three years than all other baits combined.  The math is pretty simple on that one.

I love the Vision 110 and 110+1s. I guess I need to try the popmax.

I like megabass. I got their rods and lures. I also have the financial capabilities to resupply them should i lost or break one. Megabass have a lot of lures that do things no other lure does, and that that makes then very much worth it, if you can afford to replace them.

I personally wouldn’t recommend the Pop X, which is a finesse-type popper at 2.5”. I had to mail it back due to some quality control issues and they handled things quite well. However, at that price point, I wish I didn’t have to go thru that hassle for one little expensive lure. 

 

I hear great reviews on the Pop Max, so maybe that model will restore things

He says they are delicious and he doesn't care how much they cost. He just wants more. So get out there and buy more expensive baits.

Don't forget that the Bait Monkey loves you, too.

So you indicated the 100 dollar bait and I can only assume you mean their islide swim baits.  I think a lot of people would choose a different bait for that 100 dollars.  The pizz drift, the jointed claw. And the deps 250 are all right about that price and I would choose all of them before the islide.  That's just the glides that are considered top shelf.  Megabass is a great company but the question of if there worth it is up to you and which lure your talking about.

This is a money issue as far as i am concerned.  There are several premium class jerkbaits out there to include Megabass. lucky craft, and duo.  Can you afford more than one to help complete a package to cover your waters.  Can you complete the three major colors, a clear, matte and foil finish.   If you can then the MB is a great choice.  If you can better afford the lucky craft, i dont think your loosing anything.

I think they are worth it, especially the Vision 110 series....If you're a color junkie like me, there's well over 100 different colors in the 110 series alone so you can always find something to match what you're looking for.  Nothing is magic, but they are extremely well made products and I don't mind paying a little more for that.  

 

'Worth it' is up to the individual...But if the question is "Does the quality/value match the price tag?"..IMO the answer is definitely yes.  This video is pretty cool in showing how their baits are still hand assembled, QC'd, painted, etc...I have no connection to MB, just a guy that likes their stuff.

If you are just starting out and don't have or don't want to invest the money, does it really matter if they are worth it or not?

It does if I’m going to try one, I think you misunderstood me, I’m not going to buy multiple colors of a single lure or multiple colors of a $20 lure.

A wild group of colors is not required but you may need a few to match the conditions.  In your case buying the most expensive lure does not represent the best value.

I wasn’t planning on buying the most expensive lure, I’m going to have different colors of different lures but not different colors of the same lure.

I'll say this much. 

 

I have never and will never own any Savage Gear lures. 

 

However, I own probably 3 dozen+ Megabass lures, ranging from jerkbaits, crankbaits, poppers, and glide baits.
