Going Bald for the kids

Featured Replies

Every two minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer. To show my support and to raise awareness and funds for research, I'll be getting my head shaved on Monday.  Look for before and after pics (if you don't have a weak stomach) here sometime late Mon. morning, or you can see it happening on FaceBook as I'll be streaming it live at 10:30 central time. I should say my son-in-law will be streaming it 'cause my hair would be grown back before I figure out how to.  Before and after pics can also be seen at stbaldricks.org  I'm shavee #952317 Joe Cortesi

Respect buddy!! Thanks for looking out for the world and kids of the future!!!

good for you. wish I had some hair left to donate.

All I would have to offer is actual scalp.

As you may have read before I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at 19. I spent 6-7 months in and out of the pediatric hematology/oncology department at DeVos Children's hospital in Grand Rapids, Mi. A lot of the dads and some of the male staff had their heads shave.

Coming from someone who's been around kids from newborns to teenagers with cancer what you're doing is really cool and it makes the kids a lot more comfortable. From the bottom of my heart thank you for that and thank you for raising money for the kids!

That's a nice thing you are doing.  Since I've lost most of my head hair already, I'm thinking of organizing a "growing hair on your back for kids" fundraiser.  Do you think it will fly?

Outstanding.  You are a special person.

Thumbs up, unity can be a very positive motivator.

Ironically, I believe I went nearly bald because of the kids... ?

Oh if it were only that simple...
