Spring Break in Lake Fork

Featured Replies

So me and a couple buddies decided to plan a last minute trip to Lake Fork for our spring break. We would likely be fishing March 12th, 13th, and 14th and plan on renting a boat down there. We are from Iowa so have never fished in a big bass lake such as Lake Fork. Looking at such a large lake on a map is very overwhelming and very different from Midwest lakes. So far we plan to get on the water and learn as we go.

However I am looking for any information that might point us in the right direction. Any insight to what kind of habitat to look for, what types of lures and colors to fish that time of year, and what difference we can expect compared to fishing in the Midwest.

Any other information you can add would also be welcome as we are going in fairly blind so far.

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~

This job calls for a professional Local Guide.

Good Luck

I'm not an authority on Lake Fork fishing by any means, but I take a trip down there every year at this time. I'm actually headed down this weekend. I sent you a PM with my phone number. Get ahold of me next week, and I'll try to help you form a plan of attack.

P.S. Probably the most important piece of advice I can give you about Lake Fork is to stay in the boat lanes when you're on pad!

I can't imagine trying to dissect Lake Fork for a 3 day trip and I've been there.  Pool your $$ and hire a guide.

I've been 3 times, all during Spring Break (I'm a teacher). I did way better fishing my style in areas where I wanted to fish on two occasions as opposed to the one time I hired a local guide/"pro".

It was slow this morning, but I caught a few.

Go to glade creek and fish slow!
