When someone has sleep apnea they never truly fall into rem because your brain is constantly shooting out adrenaline to keep you alive and breathing. This is why your sleepy in the day time even though you think you slept all night. Your brain should be completely resting when you sleep. Constantly shooting out adrenaline to keep you breathing keeps you from ever restin, and in some cases it can kill you.

My wife kept telling me I needed to get checked because I would stop breathing in my sleep when I was a genuine military bad**s, playing GI Joe with the Special Forces, going through Ranger School and all kinds of classified special duty assignments.  I was probably in much better shape than most people. I was a big chested guy and didn't consider myself over weight then.  That's why I blew it off when she complained about it.  It was not until I had retired and 57 years old before I had that sleep study done.  They told me I had a severe case of it.

Glad you finally got checked. How has it been lately?

Anyone else here suffering from sleep apnea? I'll be ordering a new Cpap machine as soon as insurance tells me how much I can spend. Any recommendations along with what mask?

Did you get your mask yet?

Sounds like we have a lot in common.  Since I could sleep anywhere at anytime I thought I was lucky.  Turn 20 lbs of muscle to fat and it’s not the case.

I’m back to the high-n-tight and getting back into shape......with the exception of a bourbon and cigar ?

I just did a sleep study a couple weeks ago due to always being tired and it sounds like they're recommending a mask for me. Not excited about it but hoping it will help with some other issues I've been experiencing.

That’s good. Not good that you have sleep apnea but good that you’re going to be able to breath and feel rested. I hate having to wear a mask but feels good to breath and get rested.

Reggie White is a perfect example!

I go to sleep tired and wake up more tired. I fell out of bed four times because I wasn’t in REM, I was half asleep. I hate using the water. It never works right. I use coff drops to keep my mouth wet during the colder months. The summer months I use nothing.

Just got my Cpap, Airsense 10 auto. The mask they gave me SUCKS. (Nasal) I need a full face as I have horrible allergies and breath through my mouth. I ordered a new mask by Phillips where the tubing comes out the top instead the bottom. Really hoping and praying that this makes a huge difference!

It will and you will finally feel rested!
