Anyone ever tried using dippin dye or jjs on their line (braid or flouro) for line watching?

 

Im wondering if it would damage the line. If not, it seems like a good idea...

Never tried it though I'm guessing it would work. For me, easier just to buy line that is already the color I want.

Yea I’ve got em in every color at this point but on the water changes are a pain. 

 

To to be clear I’m talking about brushing on a few feet every 10ft or so for the first 50 feet. Not the whole line capacity. Figure I’d brush in and let soak in water a few min so it doesn’t spread too much and get all over the rod or reel. Might even add good a scent trail.

From what I've read it is it's least useful sense. But they can still smell/taste

Well it's another idea that might catch more fisherman than fish ?

I run my braid thru a cheap lead slip sinker. Grab the tag end & drop the weight into the bottle of dye of choice. Pull the line thru the weight until you have dyed the length you want. Easy & not as messy.

Not sure of the effect on line, but the dyes I've used have a weird chemical reaction with skirts. They crinkle up right away but usually return to normal after they dry.  

 

It's a good idea, but scares me a bit. I'd go with colored line from the manufacturer of your choice. 

There has been scented lines before that are no longer in production if that tells you anything.
