Any tips for choosing a size of jig trailer?

For instance, any times when it's better to choose a chunk type trailer vs using an entire plastic craw?

agressive fish or late spring/summer/early fall I typically use a bigger jig/trailer combo 3-3.25

sluggish fish colder water  smaller finesse jig small trailer  2"-2.75

Thats typically how I do it.

For 1/4 oz-3/8 oz jigs I'll use 4-5

For 3/8 oz-5/8 oz jigs I'll use 5-6

I always cut the tail down 1/2 to 1 1/2
