Bang o lure with tail prop

Featured Replies

I have never had one of the bang o lure with the tail prop. picked one up to try, but was unsure how to retrieve. If you jerk it, the prop spins and the bait dives. If you reel it steady, the bait goes under with prop spinning under water. If you hold the rod high and reel very slow you can keep it on top with the prop spinning slow sometimes. So what is the best way to work this lure? I have heard at times they can be very productive. Please share.

Multiple ways, twitching it, walking the dog, slashing, or steady retrieves. Each one will work, you've just figure out just how they want it when the topwater bite is on.

I have a new one to try this year also; it's got postspawn written all over it.  I expect it will be effective twitching on top, like a floating minnow or propbait (since it is kind of both).

They are excellent post spawn lures . I dont have the Bagleys but have a half dozen of the discontinued Bomber version .

Just work them different ways and see if it works . Sometimes I twitch it as fast as I can and stil remain in   contact with the surface .

I have caught more fish on the regular bang o lure as opposed to the prop. My most successful way is to throw it and let it sit and either barely twitch it enough to break the water's surface (Not make it go under, just dance it on top of the water) or to twitch it and have it dive down and let it float back up. 90% of the strikes seem to come when the bait is just sitting still.
