First toothy critter

The boat hasn't been launched yet, so in order to quench our thirst to get a few lines wet we went bridge fishing to see if we could get a couple brown bass. I came up empty handed, momma bear caught a small largemouth, and our cub caught a largemouth and this pike. It was his first pike. Thanks to my wife and her dislike for toothy fish it took some convincing to get him to hold the line for the picture.

Congratulations to your son for catching his first pike.

Poor little fella, he don't even know he's been bit by the fishing bug. Gonna cost him lots of money and sunburns down the road..

Congrats!

Oh he was bit by the bug by age 3. The hunting bug by age 5. I get reminded every day that our turkey season starts Tuesday.

Start em young and they'll be hooked for life! It's good to see the sport still growing!

Apart from some rainbow trout taken from a pay lake, my first experience was with a grass pike that grabbed my creme worm (also a first-catching a fish on an artificial lure).  It flopped into my tackle box (mostly empty space) and I did not know what to think of this odd creature I'd never seen or heard of before.  I probably picked it up wit a stick or something.  Your son's fish is considerably larger than my prize specimen but if my little fish stands out so well in my mind, I'm sure his will too (or at least I hope so).  Nice catch!

Looks like the bait monkey will be waiting for him to get a job and have some money so he get him a few years down the road.

He already has his own tackle box and he gets some overflow baits from me.
