It's an evil larg mouth spawned from Hades! Be careful. ;)

 

I used to see fish way more beaten up than that one-bleeding even. Now that I mostly fish private waters I see way fewer beaten up bass.

Male bass,  during the spring, will often get red fins  and tails . Even the dorsal , pelvis and pectoral  fins turn red , not bleeding  . I think its a way to attract females to the nest . A lot of species do this .

 

I recently caught several males with red fins .

If they aren't spawning it can be from laying on clay bottom in the summer or winter time, did you keep the fish?

Most likely spawning, the males actually use there fins and tails to keep the debris out of the nest and to clear out an area of a potential nest.

Its a natural occurrence in the spring . Dorsal , pelvic ,  pectorals will all turn red . Yes ,fanning the nest rubs the tail raw but not the dorsals and others .Its a mating  thing .

Yeah that may not be from fanning ... nice bass. I havent seen them get that bright around here
