what rod and line(s) would you use  with it?

what types of presentation for bass fishing would you use it for? drop shot or?

Heavy Rod, Braid, Frogs, Jigs, Punching Rigs, and maybe small swimbaits

if you fish northerns or plan on doing any fishing for salmon or any other big freshwater fish I'd use it for that. 4000 is just a bit large for bass fishing in my opinion.

No way, sell it to me. I use 4000 reels regularly for bass. Less wind knots, less line twist and you can use most flouros without creating loops. Im actually looking for another one myself

okay tell me more. like what rod and line and lure combos you use it for.

I would put it on a Medium Heavy rod and go fishing for some Saltwater species like Fluke, Flounder and Bluefish.

 

4000 reel is kind of big for the freshwater finesse techniques I enjoy.

My FIL uses one for his heavy lures, 168 s-waver, 50 sz spro rat, the BIG ass whopper plopper, megabass magdrafts etc. He's got his on a 6.5' or 7' St. Croix Premier Heavy. IMO, it's a big game reel, if you're fishing for northern pike or musky. Pairing the right rod is key.

My favorite is deadsticking a 7 inch senko. The bigger spool lets you use heavier line without sacrificing cast distance. I also skip lure with spinning gear and skip frogs under heavy cover.

A medium heavy rod with 40lb maxcuatro works great for me

I've set many people up with a MH inshore spinning rod and a 4000 series reel spooled with 40# braid for froggin'.  Not everyone likes or can use a casting setup.

I would go target catfish or atlantic salmon

I'd use it for inshore mostly, paired with a 6'6" or 7' M to MH

rod. Would go MH for freshwater, heavier techniques.

spinning can't do heavy stuff. ??

I would put it on a medium heavy ugly stick striper rod.
